Arts Launch Interns are UC Irvine Claire Trevor School of the Arts (CTSA) students looking to expand their professional skills and experience in the creative sector.
Interns participate in Arts Launch because they are:
- Interested in exploring the vast career opportunities within the arts sector
- Seeking hands-on, professional, and leadership experience through mentorship and connections
- Looking to contribute to the impactful mission of local arts organizations in Orange County
As part of creative wayfinding, the Arts Launch Internship Program aims to provide CTSA students with paid, valuable professional development and a pathway to support their arts education. Once placed with an Orange County Arts Organization, Interns may work within various areas of the organization to develop hard and soft skills that are transferable to careers both within, and outside of, the creative sector. Frequently Asked Questions
-
What types of internships are available through Arts Launch?
The scope of internship opportunities will vary from year to year depending on the Organizations that apply and their needs. Internships can span areas such as marketing, development and fundraising, community outreach and education, technical assistantships and more. We do our best to provide diverse opportunities, and at the same time, not every internship will be a perfect fit for an Intern. If this is the case, we will work together to find a suitable internship.
-
How are Interns matched with an Organization?
Interns will be able to review Organization applications and interview those that interest them in July. Matches will be determined in August, after which an initial meeting between the Intern and Organization will be scheduled to discuss needs and goals. Once all parties are in agreement that the match is a good one, the Intern will take responsibility for managing their internship, working with the Organization to plan and confirm work hours and duties.
-
Will I know which Organizations applied or what kind of internships are available before I apply?
Due to the application schedule, Interns will not have access to the list of Organizations before applying to the program. We do ask what your areas of interest are in the application and during the interview, and we will use your responses to inform how to steer our recruitment of Organizations, if need be. Again, while we do our best to match Interns with Organizations, we may not always have the perfect opportunity as Organization and community needs vary from year to year.
- I do not have a vehicle to travel to and from my selected Organization. Can I still participate in Arts Launch?
Yes, you can! We want everyone to be able to take advantage of this unique opportunity and are committed to eliminating as many barriers to participation as possible for our CTSA students. Therefore, we reimburse all our Interns for their transportation costs to and from their organization sites, regardless if you use a personal vehicle, public transportation or car service.
- What if I have other questions that were not answered here?
Should you have any other questions or concerns, please email us at artsengagement@uci.edu.
