Position Summary:
 
Under the general direction of the Department Chair, plans and directs all administrative functions of the Department of Dance. Analyzes needs, establishing short and long-range objectives and implementing effective organizational planning to meet instructional research and programmatic goals of the Dance Department. Responsible for the management, planning and leadership of all administrative activities in the department including fiscal management of the department budgets, payroll, academic/staff/student personnel, graduate and undergraduate programs, internal controls, risk management and oversight of all department space, and inventories of all department space and equipment.
 
Uses skills as a seasoned and experienced administrative operations professional to manage, plan and administer the operations of a small to mid-sized academic or non-academic department or organizational unit with limited scope. May report to a chair, director, or a higher level administrative operations professional or manager. Perform short- and long-term planning for the organization. May supervise staff or students. Demonstrates good judgment in selecting methods and techniques for obtaining solutions.

B.A/B.S. degree and a minimum of five years of experience in personnel or academic administration, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Bachelor's degree in related area and / or equivalent experience / training.
Demonstrated experience using personal computer utilizing databases, networks and software packages. Skill utilizing Financial Aid, SLATE and systems, KFS, UCPath, AP Recruit, AP Review, and ZotPortal systems. Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to work both collaboratively and independently and interact at all levels with faculty, students, and staff, in order to determine and implement methods, procedures and policies that lead to the achievement of overall goals of the Dance Department Excellent organizational and staff development skills. Excellent written and interpersonal communication skills Skill in supervising staff employees, including organizing work flow, delegating responsibility, interviewing, hiring, training, evaluating performance and disciplinary actions. Demonstrated strong interpersonal skills to work and communicate effectively with diverse groups. Skill to use tact, discretion, confidentiality in internal and external relations. Ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with departments, administrators, faculty, staff, students and visitors Working knowledge of Policy and Procedures and Academic Personnel Policies. Demonstrated skill in management of space, equipment and material resources, and the development of utilization plans. Demonstrated experience in managing complex organization including annual budget planning and supervising diverse personnel. Demonstrated ability to analyze financial data and trends. Experience in performing complex fiscal and budgetary analysis. Demonstrated skills in planning, preparation, and administration of department budgets. Working knowledge of UCI accounting procedures, general ledgers and on-line financial systems, and ability to accomplish various accounting transactions. Demonstrated planning and organizational skills to assess priorities in order to complete work in a timely manner when there are changes in workload, competing assignments and deadline constraints. B.A/B.S. degree and a minimum of five years of experience in personnel or academic administration, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
