Department Support
As the University of California’s only comprehensive arts school, the UC Irvine Claire Trevor School of the Arts brings together four departments—Art, Dance, Drama, and Music—in an environment where creative practice meets critical inquiry.
Our students and faculty engage in rigorous training, groundbreaking research, and meaningful community partnerships. Through our work, we challenge conventions, tell urgent stories, and drive cultural and social impact – preparing the next generation of creative leaders.
Department Giving Opportunities
The Department of Art takes a wide-ranging, interdisciplinary approach to contemporary art practice, emphasizing experimentation, innovation, cultural identity, and emerging technologies. Students develop strong theoretical and technical foundations through studio experiences in drawing, painting, sculpture, photography, digital imaging, video, performance art, and new media.
Donor support provides students access to critical tools for creative development, including scholarships, fellowships, research opportunities, materials, visiting artists, and professional engagement.
The Department of Dance fosters an educational environment where performance, creative projects, and theoretical studies reinforce one another. Training spans ballet, modern, jazz, tap, world dance, and dance and technology, supported by coursework in dance history, writing, pedagogy, ethnography, science, and digital media aesthetics.
Philanthropic support helps sustain exceptional dance education at UC Irvine by expanding performance opportunities, supporting choreography and research, and ensuring access to high-quality training for students.
The Department of Drama is recognized as a premier academic and professional training program and is designated a Department of Excellence within the UC system. The program honors the legacy of the theatrical arts while actively shaping its future through a diverse curriculum, distinguished faculty, and strong professional outcomes for students.
Donor support enables conservatory-level training and the production of ambitious shows and projects that prepare students for successful professional careers.

The Department of Music is a dynamic center of excellence that prepares students to engage with a wide range of musical practices and research approaches. Faculty include composers, scholars, conductors, and performers who are active leaders in their fields, many drawn from major professional orchestras throughout Southern California.
