ILLUMINATIONS: Mozart and the Fortepiano
Mozart and the Fortepiano
Lecture-Recital
Monday, May 9, 2016
5:00-6:00 pm
Winifred Smith Hall
In collaboration with UCI Illuminations.
Mozart enjoyed the busiest and most productive years of his career in Vienna from 1784 to 1788, when he found success as a composer, teacher, impresario, and virtuoso pianist. Cecilia Sun and Nina Scolnik will present a lecture-recital featuring some of the music Mozart composed during that period for piano solo and duo. They will perform on a replica of a Viennese fortepiano built by Anton Walter, who was the leading piano maker of his day and whose instrument Mozart owned.
Free admission. Registration is required.
