Angel Castellanos ’22 Works on Benson Boone Music Video

The production coordinator shares his experience of almost filming at UC Irvine

Angel Castellanos ’22, a Department of Drama alumnus at UC Irvine Claire Trevor School of the Arts (UCI Arts), recently served as production coordinator on the official music video for Benson Boone's "The Time of My Life," produced by Los Angeles-based production company LOTUMN. When the team got the green light to scout filming locations, Castellanos immediately thought of UCI Arts’ Little Theatre — a space where he spent countless hours as a student.

Though the request came together on an extremely tight timeline, Claire Trevor Dean of the Arts Tiffany Ana López and her team worked quickly to explore whether the shoot could take place on campus. While university permitting requirements ultimately made the short turnaround impossible, Castellanos says the effort meant a great deal to him. 

"The part of this that meant the most to me was reaching out to try to bring the production to the Little Theatre in the first place," shared Castellanos. "As a Drama and Media & Film Studies double major, that stage was where I spent so much of my time as a student, and it was the first place that came to mind once we got the green light to scout locations. The timeline ended up being too tight on the school's end, but Dean López and her team took the request seriously and worked hard to see what could be done. That meant a lot to me as an alum."

Castellanos worked closely on the project with Autumn Maschi, executive producer/producer and co-founder of LOTUMN, and longtime friend Stephen Predisik (production supervisor), who brought Angel onto the project. LOTUMN is a Los Angeles-based production company co-founded in 2024 by executive producer Autumn Maschi and director/executive producer Loris Russier. They specialize in commercials, music videos, narrative films and still photography, creating striking visual campaigns for Grammy Award-winning artists like Doechii and Future, and Grammy-nominated artists like Travis Scott, Giveon and Benson Boone.
