• NEW DEAN NAMED FOR CLAIRE TREVOR SCHOOL OF THE ARTS   Joseph Lewis III has been named dean of UC Irvine's Claire Trevor School of the Arts.  He will take his new post at the beginning of the spring term next March, ending a five-year tenure as dean of the School of Art & Design at Alfred University in upstate New York.  Lewis is a former chair of Cal State Northridge's art department who also supervised the public art projects for L.A.'s Cultural Affairs Department. He is an accomplished artist whose work has appeared in many exhibitions, including solo shows at The Durst Corporation and Kathleen Cullen Fine Arts, New York; The Contemporary Arts Center, Cincinnati; and the Substation, Singapore; and group exhibitions at the Los Angeles County Museum of Art; Smithsonian Institution, Washington, D.C.; High Museum of Art, Atlanta; A9 Space, Beijing, China; the Studio Museum, Harlem; the New Museum; and the Museum of Arts & Design, New York...
