Boróka Nagy, M.F.A. '15 Named an Emerging Arts Leader by Arts Orange County

UCI Dance alumna honored for her work as artistic director and choreographer of Re:born Dance Interactive
Boróka Nagy, M.F.A. '15, a Department of Dance alumna from UC Irvine Claire Trevor School of the Arts, has been named a recipient of the 2026 Emerging Arts Leader Award by Arts Orange County. Nagy is the founder, artistic director and choreographer of Re:born Dance Interactive, a professional contemporary dance company based in Southern California.
"I'm deeply honored to receive the Emerging Arts Leader Award from Arts Orange County,” said Nagy. “So much of this work happens quietly over years of showing up, building community, taking risks, and believing in something before there's any guarantee it will succeed. I'm incredibly grateful to everyone who has supported me over the years, danced beside me, trusted these ideas, and helped make Reborn Arts into what it is becoming."
Re:born Dance Interactive creates immersive and concert works at the intersection of choreography, architecture, projection, music and audience presence, dissolving the traditional divide between performer and observer. The company has presented proscenium and installation-based works at dance festivals, cultural institutions, galleries and collaborative events nationwide and internationally. The arts organization creates communities in motion, bringing dancers and audiences together to explore shared human experiences from joy, grief, struggle and yearning for peace in an increasingly polarizing world.
M.F.A. '15
A Hungarian-born choreographer, dancer and multimedia artist, Nagy trained at Fiorello H. LaGuardia High School and the Alvin Ailey School's B.F.A. Program in New York City before pursuing her M.F.A. at UC Irvine. She has performed at landmark venues, including the 92nd Street Y and New York City Center, and continues to perform internationally in site-specific and concert-stage settings.
In 2021, Nagy became director of The Academy of Dance in Orange County. The following year, she founded Reborn Arts, a nonprofit whose mission is to use catharsis to bring breath and ownership back to everyday life. She is also the owner of Pilates on Main, with locations in El Segundo and Santa Ana.
