Alumni: Erik Smith

Erik Smith, M.F.A. ’19, got his start with Cirque du Soleil back in 2013 as an undergraduate in the UCI Department of Drama.

In a green screen studio, several people work with performers wearing motion capture suits marked with tracking points. A large monitor displays a 3D skeletal animation of movement, while one person measures or adjusts a performer’s arm as others observe.

Research

Dr. Sharp is currently working with her team of interdisciplinary researchers on a study to understand motor learning patterns in dancers to aid their performance, and then apply this knowledge to understanding various neurological disorders.
