Minor in Drama

Students relax and study outdoors on campus, sitting on benches and grass with laptops and notebooks near the Claire Trevor School of the Arts building.

Overview

The Minor in Drama offers undergraduate students the opportunity to engage in both scholarly and creative work within the Department of Drama. Open to students from all majors, the minor provides a broad introduction to theatre as an academic discipline and a collaborative art form.

Coursework spans history, theory, culture, and practice, allowing students to explore how theatre functions across time, cultures, and performance contexts. In addition to classroom study, students participate in Drama productions at both large and small scales, gaining hands-on experience in the creative process.

The minor is designed with flexibility in mind, enabling students to pursue areas of individual interest such as performance, design, directing, stage management, scholarship, and related fields. Whether complementing a major in the arts, humanities, sciences, or professional disciplines, the Minor in Drama supports creative inquiry, critical thinking, and collaborative skills applicable across many academic and career paths.
