UC Irvine Claire Trevor School of the Arts alumna, Sakina Ibrahim, M.F.A. ’14, has won the Best Podcasts, Belonging and Inclusion category at the 30th Annual Webby Awards for her work on "Radiotopia Presents: We're Doing The Wiz."

"It is a true honor to be recognized on such a large platform,” shared Ibrahim. “This category is incredibly valuable, as it opens pathways for necessary conversations around race, identity, and controlling our own narratives — themes that are at the very heart of our podcast, ‘We're Doing The Wiz.’ To be selected by both a prestigious committee of industry experts and the public is a sign of hope; it serves as a reminder that every story matters and that no one can tell us otherwise."

An official selection of the Tribeca Festival and a National Magazine Award-nominated podcast, "We're Doing The Wiz" revisits a high school production of the beloved musical as a lens for exploring community, creativity and cultural legacy. "The revisiting of a high school production of The Wiz becomes its own stage for vulnerable self-excavation," said Davy Gardner, head of podcasts at Tribeca Enterprises. "It's a brilliant example of how a limited narrative series can transport listeners through memories while bringing them close to the people who lived them."
