A native of Berkeley, California, violinist Nathan Olson is Co-Concertmaster of the Dallas Symphony Orchestra, a position he assumed in 2011. In 2013, he was appointed Adjunct Faculty at the University of North Texas College of Music. He is a graduate of the Cleveland Institute of Music’s (CIM) prestigious Concertmaster Academy, where he studied with William Preucil and Paul Kantor. Currently Concertmaster of the Breckenridge Music Festival, he has participated in the Mainly Mozart Festival, the Bravo Vail Music Festival and the Amelia Island Chamber Music Festival. A winner of the Joseph and Elsie Scharff prize in violin at CIM, he has performed as soloist with Dallas Symphony Orchestra, Canton Symphony Orchestra, Breckenridge Music Festival Orchestra, Cleveland Pops Orchestra, City Music Cleveland, San Francisco Chamber Orchestra, Berkeley Symphony, Oakland East Bay Symphony and Lexington Bach Festival Orchestra. An enthusiastic chamber musician, Nathan is a silver medal winner at the Fischoff Competition and has served on faculty at the Innsbrook Music Festival. Currently a member of Baumer String Quartet, he serves on faculty at Crowden Chamber Music Workshop and Monterey Chamber Music Workshop. In recent seasons, he has appeared as Guest Concertmaster with the symphony orchestras of Toronto, Omaha and Tucson, and as Principal Second Violin with St. Paul Chamber Orchestra.

In his 14th year as the conductor of the UCI Symphony, Dr. Stephen Tucker continues to build the orchestra’s repertoire as well as its visibility in the Orange County and the larger California communities. Along with his orchestral duties, Dr. Tucker is an Associate Professor in the Claire Trevor School of the Arts’ Music Department, teaching a variety of courses. In addition, he collaborates with the Dance department and leads the orchestra in outreach efforts in the community, most notably, the adoption and nurturing of the music program at Santa Ana High School. Before joining the faculty at UCI, Dr. Tucker did academic work at UCLA, Vienna Conservatory in Austria, International Conductors’ Institute, and Thayer Conservatory of Music. He holds a Doctor of Musical Arts degree from UCLA where he served as Assistant Conductor of Opera UCLA and conductor of that university’s Musical Theatre Workshop. Prior to that, he held positions as Music Director of the Neumark Ensemble, a Southern California chamber orchestra and chorale, and the Southern California Young Artists’ Symphony, leading numerous concert performances with both organizations. Currently, Dr. Tucker is Music Director and Conductor of the Riverside Lyric Opera Company, attending to the development of this long-standing organization.
