 des. Perhaps best known for his work as a member of the Miles Davis band i
 n the late 1980s\, his career also includes extended associations with maj
 or figures such as Stanley Turrentine\, James Newton\, Joe Farrell\, Al Di
  Meola\, and Airto Moreira. He has also performed or recorded with Art Pep
 per\, Blue Mitchell\, Freddie Hubbard\, Ron Carter\, Charlie Haden\, Charn
 ett Moffett\, Tom Harrell\, Bobby Shew\, Eddie Harris\, Sadao Watanabe\, S
 lide Hampton\, Steve Turre\, Robin Eubanks\, Jean-Luc Ponty\, Allan Holdsw
 orth\, and others. Akagi has recorded 14 albums as a solo artist and leade
 r. As a sideman and accompanist\, he is on over 60 albums worldwide\, incl
 uding Miles Davis’ last recorded works. He has also written numerous origi
 nal works for his own and others’ recordings\, with over 100 compositions 
 currently in publication.</p> <p>The Kei Akagi Trio with Darek Oles and Ja
 son Harnell has been together for over three decades\, and is one of the m
 ost continuous and venerated ensembles in the Los Angeles area. The UC Irv
 ine performance will feature original selections from Akagi’s album releas
