This event features a new series of public video artworks cr eated by students in Art 130A: Projects in New Technology. Developed durin g Spring Quarter 2026\, the works explore the relationship between student s’ personal experiences at UC Irvine and the broader history of the instit ution.
Through archival research\, reflection and experimental filmm aking\, students created short video projects connecting individual narrat ives with UC Irvine’s evolving identity. The films engage themes including student life\, memory\, place\, activism\, belonging and the ways institu tional histories are experienced through everyday campus life.
Prese nted on a large multi-screen array at the Pippin Recreation Center in Midd le Earth Housing\, the videos will remain installed throughout the coming year. The project provides students with hands-on experience creating site -specific\, research-based media artworks for a public campus setting.
