UCI Music’s Gassmann Electronic Music Series Presents Pamela Z

International Electronic Artist Will Present a Concert, Lecture and Workshop

IRVINE, Calif., (October 10, 2016) – UC Irvine’s Claire Trevor School of the Arts department of music’s Gassmann Electronic Music Series presents Pamela Z: Works for Voice, Live Electronics, and Video featuring internationally award-winning composer/performer Pamela Z, a pioneer in solo vocal performance with electronics. She will present an evening of solo works for voice, real time electronic processing, interactive video, and gesture controllers. The evening will include short works from her concert repertoire as well as excerpts from larger performance works such as Baggage Allowance and This Impossible Building. The performance will take place on Friday, October 21, 2016, at 8 p.m. in Winifred Smith Hall. Admission is free and open to the public.

Director Annie Loui Explores Cultural Alienation and Illuminates Great Literature                                                                              

IRVINE, Calif. (September 29, 2016) – UC Irvine’s Claire Trevor School of the Arts Department of Drama presents its first offering of the 2016 – 2017 season, The Iliad: Menin (Rage) opening October 13, 2016, with five performances at Winifred Smith Hall. Based on Homer’s classic poem as translated by Stephen Mitchell, The Iliad explores interpersonal and cultural alienation as it culminates ultimately in the physical manifestation of war.

“Shining Stars” Dance Program spreads inspiration to Orange County’s Children

IRVINE, Calif. (July 28th, 2016) - Leaping back into action this summer, the “Shining Stars” Dance Organization will hold its 2016 Summer Dance Program from August 15th-20th on the UC Irvine campus. 100 young children will partake in this student and alumni produced program that bridges the gaps between Orange County’s underserved communities and access to the arts in higher educational institutions.

Internationally acclaimed choreographer Lar Lubovitch joins UCI dance faculty. Innovative icon to serve as Distinguished Professor in Claire Trevor School of the Arts.

Irvine, Calif., July 6, 2016 – Celebrated international artistic director and choreographer Lar Lubovitch has joined the dance department at the University of California, Irvine’s Claire Trevor School of the Arts as a Distinguished Professor.

Founder and artistic director of the New York-based Lar Lubovitch Dance Company for 48 years, he has produced more than 100 dances, and his company has performed in nearly all 50 U.S. states and over 40 countries. Lubovitch has been hailed as “one of the 10 best choreographers in the world” by The New York Times, a “national treasure” by Variety and among America’s “irreplaceable dance treasures” by the Dance Heritage Coalition.
