The Violin Sonata of Vinteuil: A Proustian Extravaganza

The fictional Vinteuil violin sonata in Marcel Proust’s seminal novel Remembrance of Things Past is explored through the performance of the actual works that inspired it. Sonatas by Saint-Saëns, Fauré, and Franck will be presented, followed by the US premiere of Claude Pascal’s violin sonata. Organizer and alumnus pianist Jérémie Favreau will be joined by graduate and alumni musicians John Gilmour and Wendy Chen, pianists; and Kayoko Adachi and Samuel Chen, violinists. Dr. Lorna Griffitt, faculty advisor.
