Kojiro Umezaki, of Yo-Yo Ma’s Silk Road Ensemble, and Jenny Kim, fortepiano, present works for shakuhachi, fortepiano, electronics, and more. The program includes selections from Japanese composer Michio Mamiya’s Five Finnish Folk Songs arranged for the first time for the improbable combination of Monty Levenson’s shakulute—a hybrid shakuhachi-flute—and fortepiano.
