Don Greene, PhD

Don Greene is a Long Island native and champion springboard diver who graduated from the U.S. Military Academy at West Point. After Airborne and Ranger training, he served in the Army’s Green Berets. After resigning as a captain, he received his Master’s Degree from George Washington University and a Doctorate in Sports Psychology from the U.S. International University in San Diego.

Dr. Greene trained Olympic and professional athletes how to perform their best under pressure for more than a decade before he began working with musicians. After several of his new clients won major orchestral auditions, he was invited to teach at The Juilliard School, the New World Symphony, and the Perlman Music Program. He conducted master classes at Northwestern, Yale, Oberlin, Michigan, Curtis, the Royal Northern College of Music, and the University of Melbourne Conservatorium of Music. Students of Dr. Greene have won jobs in orchestras and ballets including the Philadelphia Orchestra, San Francisco Symphony, Boston Symphony Orchestra, Metropolitan Opera, Atlanta Symphony Orchestra, Kennedy Center Opera Orchestra, St. Louis Symphony, Los Angeles Philharmonic, Houston Symphony, Cleveland Orchestra, Pacific Northwest Ballet, and San Jose Cleveland Ballet.

Dr. Greene, currently on the faculty of the Colburn School, is the author of Audition Success, Fight Your Fear and Win, Performance Success, Performance Mastery, and the 11 Strategies for Musicians for Audition and Performance Success. He recently produced the Centering Training Series, a three-part instructional video that teaches musicians how to Center. He resides in Los Angeles, where he continues to train musicians to perform their best under pressure.
