The School
The Claire Trevor School of the Arts is one of the nation's most acclaimed and innovative centers dedicated to the study of the visual and performing arts. The school is located at the University of California, Irvine, a public university ranked by U.S. News & World Report in the top ten in the United States. The Claire Trevor School, named for one of America's distinguished actors, offers degrees in Drama, Dance, Music and Studio Art, as well as a minor in Digital Arts. The School delivers an educational experience that both develops superlative artistic abilities and provides an excellent liberal arts education.
Location
Located in the heart of Southern California's "Tech Coast," UC Irvine combines the best features of a suburban residential campus combined with convenient access to the cultural life of Los Angeles and the natural beauty of Southern California's beaches and mountains.
Facilities
With six on-campus theaters, the CyberA Cafe, The Beall Center for Art and Technology, two art galleries, a costume design and construction studio, a stage production shop, digital arts labs and a motion capture studio, the School provides excellent facilities to support artistic development and after-class life. Building Digital Skills
Our undergraduate Digital Arts Minor offers classes in digital imaging, theater design, interactive digital media, sound and video, dance and music technology and computer music composition. Student work is digitally exhibited in the CyberA Cafe and in the Beall Center for Art and Technology.
The ACE (Arts, Computation, and Engineering) Graduate Program provides a platform for interdisciplinary research and practice in digital arts, offering the necessary training for the new genre of critically aware cultural practitioner that is demanded by the advent of digital technologies and digital cultural practices. The ACE program supports the formulation, design, development and presentation of novel media technological systems. Makers of machines, environments, and non-standard technological systems will find a fertile context in the ACE program.
Community Involvement
The arts are widely recognized as a crucial element in the development of intellect, in the advancement of cognitive function, and in achieving fullness of life at all ages. The Claire Trevor School of the Arts embraces its role as an active member of the Orange County community and is committed to sharing the richness and depth of the arts with both our youth and our adult populations.
Our Arts Outreach program partners with local schools and arts organizations to share talents and knowledge with students of all ages. Creative Connections, one of our programs geared to school-age children, introduces children to the arts, prepares middle- and high-school students for college, and provides adults with active experiential immersion in the arts to help enrich lives. In addition, we partner with the Osher Lifelong Learning Institute, providing a wide variety of lecturers from all our disciplines and discounted tickets to our performances.
In its role as a leader in the Orange County community, the Claire Trevor School of the Arts shares its dynamic talents with a wide constituency. By providing an unparalleled, up-close look at the arts, our outreach promotes a high quality of education—and a high quality of life—for thousands in the community.

The School takes seriously its commitment to place graduates. The UCI Santley Showcase—"UCI COAST-TO-COAST"—held in both Los Angeles/Hollywood and New York City, showcases the entire graduating MFA acting class. Undergraduate and MFA studio arts student exhibitions are held in our newly renovated 2500-square-foot University Art Gallery.
